Sand Dune Arch - 0.4 Miles Round-Trip
Sand Dune Arch is aptly named for its location in a sandy slot between two fins. The area's dune-like sand is particularly fine and bears a pinkish-red hue - a clear indication of its entrada sandstone origin.
The main trail (which also provides access to Broken Arch and Tapestry Arch) crosses a sage and blackbrush flat for .1 mile to a spur for Sand Dune Arch. Bear right and follow the sandy path into a narrow slot between fins to Sand Dune Arch.
The slot's deep sand is an enjoyable spot for children, and the tall fins through which you pass create shade and cooler temperatures. The slot continues a short distance past the arch but soon becomes impassable. Recent vandalism in this area has caused the Park to close access beyond Sand Dune Arch.
