Park Avenue - 1.8 Miles Round-Trip
The Park Avenue Trail runs .9 miles down a wide canyon flanked by towering rock walls and spires. These impressive formations are reminiscent of skyscrapers and buildings that shape Manhattan, hence the name 'Park Avenue'.
The trail drops from the trailhead on a steep set of stone stairs to the wide canyon floor. The dirt path is soon predominantly sandstone as you travel down the widening canyon mouth. Once in the canyon there is no trail, but it's nearly impossible to get lost (you can only stay straight). Cairns are in place to mark the easiest path.
The Courthouse Towers, The Tower of Babel, The Three Gossips and The Organ are among the many interesting formations capping theses canyon walls. A good map will help you identify them as you move along.
The trail ends at the north end parking lot and viewpoint (Courthouse Towers Parking Area). It's a 320' climb back to the south end trailhead.
